Wedding - Laurence & Jerome - Vendee

French Wedding in the beautiful Vendee region

May 2018 - I was really looking forward to the wedding of Laurence and Jerome, it was set-up in the beautiful countryside of the vendee not far away from La Roche-sur-Yon, I am not really familiar with this part of France so it was lovely to discover a new place

I first had the pleasure of meeting Laurence and Jerome back in 2016 when I photographed their engagement session in Les Sables D’olone, so I was thrilled to finally capture their wedding in spring last year! Spring is never very predictable in that part of France, but they had all the luck with the weather when it turned out to be a beautiful day! The wedding of Laurence and Jerome, was set-up in the beautiful countryside of the vendee not far away from La Roche-sur-Yon, I am not really familiar with this part of France so it was lovely to discover a new place. They wanted a nice and simple wedding with no fuss, just close family and friends. The love between these two is tangible, and is a reminder of how a wedding should be – about the love and commitment shared between two beautiful people!

The church was a very emotional moment, I could see a few people with tears in their eyes, it’s always nice to be able to capture these moments, that make lovely memories! After the church we headed to the old barn where a light lunch was waiting for the guest. With Laurence and Jerome we managed to escape for a few minutes to takes some lovely photos in the ground of that wonderful place. The surrounding pastel colors were amazing and well matched with the bride and groom, I loved editing the photos of this wedding. After lunch, guests wondered around the place while enjoying a few bottles of Champagne, listening to the band…. A nice way to end a beautiful day!

As a French couple it’s often traditional to first have the civil ceremony at the mairie, and then the second religious ceremony at the church. The reason is that the couple need to be legally married before they can attend a church ceremony, and they would prefer to have both ceremonies performed on the same day making this their special day of celebration!
